Questions & Answers

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a healing modality that dates back more than 5,000 years. Practitioners of Oriental Medicine use it. Very fine needles are inserted at different points in the body to regulate the Qi mechanism and treat disease in the body.

DOES IT HURT?

Acupuncture is not painful yet it is not devoid of sensation. Some common sensations are heaviness, cold, heat, movement, tingling, aching, and a sense of lightness to the body.

Occasionally, one may experience a small pinch upon insertion, but usually the overall experience is relaxing. Many patients fall asleep or drift off during their treatment.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Each Treatment is approximately 60 minutes. You will be asked questions, your pulse will be taken, and tongue observed. All of these diagnostic tools are taken into consideration so that a Chinese Medical diagnosis can be made.

  • For all Acupuncture visits, be sure you have eaten at least a light meal prior to arriving.
  • Wear loose clothing.
  • For men, I suggest they bring a pair of shorts or bathing suit to change into.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

There isn’t any set answer. Each individual differs greatly. Long-term chronic conditions require long-term care. Acute conditions such as simple muscle strain or a cold require a few treatments.

WILL INSURANCE COVER THE COST OF TREATMENT?

My office does not participate with any insurance company. I will be happy to give you a super bill so you may file your own claim. It is the patient’s responsibility for understanding their health plan benefits and for filing any claims. Full payment by cash or check is due at time of treatment.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

I require a 24 hour cancellation notice or the full treatment fee will be charged.
